The glyphs and the different games/strategies are very deliberate and effective. Naomi gets very excited to see her word score go up weekly. The portal user experience is intuitive and a great fit for our family.
We are fortunate to have found this program and excited about sharing our positive experience with other families struggling with learning to read.

Eliza is an EL coordinator within a high school. There are many EL students needing support with their reading and pronunciation. Eliza will use the student self-paced implementation model, so that students at different EL proficiency levels can learn the glyphs at their own pace. After learning the glyphs, Eliza will support students in the flexible implementation style where the focus is converting relevant materials into Readable English using the browser extension. She knows her students will benefit from reading their required content in Readable English, and she can always come back to the learning portal and use the provided practice materials as needed.
Geoff is a middle school SpEd teacher. He has multiple classes of students across grades 6-8 needing support in reading. He sees his students every day, but only for 20 minutes. Geoff will use the combined implementation model for teaching the glyphs. He likes that over two weeks he will be explicitly introducing the content to students each day, while his students use the Student-Led Lessons to practice independently.Because he sees his students every day, after learning the glyphs he will follow the Teacher-Led Structured Lessons implementation model. He can feel confident knowing his students are getting a mix of provided reading practice materials, as well as time to convert their own materials.
Marianne is a third grade teacher. She knows that most of her students are reading behind grade level and lacking gaps in their foundational skills. Several students are classified as SpEd. She has the time to implement the program every day. Marianne chooses to follow the Teacher-Led implementation model for teaching the glyphs. Her students will learn the glyphs in 6 weeks, and she knows they will benefit from the extra skill building focus. Marianne is very happy with her school’s ELA curriculum. After teaching the glyphs, Marianne will follow the Flexible Implementation style where the focus is converting class-specific content into Readable English using the browser extension. She knows her students will benefit from reading their required content in Readable English, and she can always come back to the learning portal and use the provided practice materials as needed.
Breaking the Code
Learn phonics with the Readable English Method
Breaking the Code is the foundation of the Readable English method. Through a fast-paced, space-themed adventure, learners master the 21 Readable English glyphs that make English phonetic, developing the decoding skills needed to read with confidence.
Using a structured literacy approach, students build essential phonics and phonemic awareness skills while progressing through an engaging mission to collect glyphs and defeat the Nebula. Most learners can complete the core pathway in as little as 2.5 hours, providing a strong foundation for everything that follows.
Highlights
-
Learn the 21 Readable English glyphs
-
Develop phonics and phonemic awareness
-
Follow a structured lesson pathway
-

Reading Practice
Apply new skills through meaningful reading
Learning phonics is only the beginning. Reading Practice helps learners apply their decoding skills through a growing library of engaging texts that build fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and confidence.
The Content Library is organized into three collections, giving learners opportunities to practice reading in different contexts while continuing to strengthen core literacy skills.
Core Fiction Stories
Engaging stories designed to develop decoding, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension through enjoyable reading.
Rather than practicing isolated skills, learners build confidence by reading complete stories that gradually increase in complexity while reinforcing the concepts they've already learned.
Academic Practice (Paired Reading)
Help learners succeed with the books they'll encounter in school.
Academic Practice aligns directly with major published literature, including works by Roald Dahl, William Shakespeare, Harper Lee, and many more.
Each major work is paired with six carefully written fiction and nonfiction readings that build the background knowledge, academic vocabulary, and reading stamina needed to tackle increasingly complex classroom texts with confidence.
Career Reading (Career Connected Learning)
Connect literacy with real careers.
Career Reading combines structured literacy practice with authentic workplace reading materials, including technical manuals, certification preparation resources, and standard operating procedures from high-demand industries.
Learners explore career pathways such as:
-
Healthcare
-
Building Trades
-
Infrastructure & Energy
-
Aircraft Maintenance
-
Diesel Mechanics
-
And more
By connecting literacy to real occupations, learners see the immediate value of becoming confident readers while developing the skills they'll use throughout their education and future careers.
Reading Drills
Interactive literacy games that strengthen every reading skill
Strong readers rely on many interconnected skills. The Reading Drills tab—our growing Literacy Skills Hub—provides short, engaging games that give learners focused practice exactly where they need it.
As our library of games continues to grow, learners will be able to filter activities by literacy domain, making it easy to target specific skills across the entire reading journey.
Skills include
- Phonemic Awareness
- Phonics
- Structural Analysis (Morphology)
- Vocabulary
- Fluency & Automaticity
- Reading Comprehension
Designed for quick, targeted practice, every game reinforces a specific aspect of reading while keeping learners engaged through interactive gameplay.
Word Pop
Morphology and vocabulary practice through play
Word Pop transforms morphology into an engaging reading game that helps learners master prefixes, suffixes, and word parts through fast-paced, active practice.
Instead of memorising word parts from a worksheet, learners read words aloud to "pop" bubbles before they float away, strengthening decoding, pronunciation, vocabulary, and word recognition through meaningful repetition.
Features
-
Focused practice on prefixes and suffixes
-
Learn the meaning of each word part before playing
-
Adjustable difficulty and speed
-
Read aloud while you play
-
Immediate feedback to reinforce learning
What's Changed?
Build phonological awareness through sound discrimination
What's Changed? develops one of the most important foundations of reading: the ability to hear and identify subtle differences between speech sounds.
Learners listen to two carefully constructed nonsense words and identify what changed between them. Because the words have no meaning, the activity focuses entirely on analyzing sounds rather than relying on vocabulary or memory.
The game gradually progresses from simple sound patterns to increasingly complex word structures, helping learners strengthen the phonological processing skills that underpin successful reading.
Features
-
Progressive levels of difficulty
-
Immediate feedback
-
Nonsense-word practice for pure sound analysis
-
Develops phonological awareness and listening skills
